Draper Temple Open House
When we told Lucy we were going to the Temple she asked, "am I going to get married?" To add to her confusion a bus took us to the temple and dropped us off squarely in line with a long column of tents that led us to the entrance. They were designed to keep the football-field-length lines warm, but confused Lucy because she did not see herself enter the temple. After our tour we took her outside to take a picture of the exterior and she said, "let's go in there." We had to re-explain that's where we just were. Our tour started at 4:45 p.m. on a Thursday, so our wait was not long, but by the time we watched an orientation video and rode the bus the girls were pretty hungry. Brett kept sneaking Lucy a fruit snack when he could tell the ushers were not watching, but he felt guilty every time he did it, as if the spirit were whispering to him, "Thou shalt not partake of fruit snacks in mine house." The temple was beautiful, and we felt very blessed to tour this temple with our family. Lucy enjoyed the baptism font and the crystal chandelier in the Celestial room. Hailey enjoyed the beautiful murals and pictures of Jesus. We hope they can just remember the peaceful spirit they felt. After the tour the stake center adjacent to the temple had a reception with cookies and drinks. So of course the next day when we asked Lucy what her favorite part of the temple was she replied, "the cookies!"
